Last Saturday evening, the skies over Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, were illuminated in a way never seen before. As Drone Show Malaysia, we were deeply honoured to take part in the National‑Level Celebration of Unity Week 2026 (Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan 2026 Peringkat Kebangsaan).
From Stadium Penampang, Donggongon, we delivered a meticulously choreographed drone light show that paid a technological tribute to the theme “Bersama Membina Negara Bangsa” (Together We Build the Nation).
The grand event, organised by the Ministry of National Unity, ran from 11 to 14 June at the Likas Sports Complex and surrounding areas. Our drone light show operation was conducted from Stadium Penampang, Donggongon, with the performance scheduled for 13 June (Saturday) from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM. As darkness enveloped the night sky, hundreds of LED-equipped drones rose into the air, forming magnificent patterns that symbolised national unity and the rich diversity of our cultures.
We are especially grateful that this flight operation received strong support and formal authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) (reference authorisation document no. CAAM/BOP/SOA/P2026/023). CAAM not only provided professional guidance on airspace usage but also ensured that the entire performance was conducted within a strict safety framework. We sincerely thank CAAM and all relevant agencies for their backing of the drone creative industry—their support allowed us to deliver a breathtaking visual spectacle while maintaining the highest standards of public safety.
It fills us with pride that our show was part of an event that attracted a record-breaking 284,448 visitors. As YB Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, Minister of National Unity, rightly said, unity cannot be built through a single activity alone; it requires continuous, consistent and comprehensive efforts. Through our drone display, we aimed to fuse technology and art in a fresh and impactful way, conveying the enduring spirit of unity that transcends race, religion and culture.
From technical preparation to final execution, our team dedicated itself to turning every pixel into a story written in the night sky. We believe that when the light of technology meets the soul of the nation, it does more than just paint a beautiful scene—it ignites a shared sense of pride and aspiration for a stronger and more united Malaysia.
